The first band of Nepal is "Prism" in which most of the members are migrated from Darjeeling.They were mostly influenced by the hippies and other rock music from western bands.They begin their band by playing English songs.After That up to 90s many band were formed but none of them recorded any songs.But in 1992,a band named Crossroad was formed which releases an album named "Naya Mode". After the release of these album many other band were encouraged to record their original songs.
In 1993,a new rock band was formed and named "Cobweb" which released an album named "Anjaan". They are still active and releasing albums, although they are more confined to pub concerts.The present mainstream music scene in Nepal includes bands like 1974 A.D.,The Shadows Band, Nepathya,Mukti N Revival, Anuprastha, Kutumba,Cobweb,Abhaya N Steam Injuns,Robin N New Revolution.
